The Hammer Theatre is proud to host Cuarteto Latinoamericano. This Latin American quartet is well loved by fans and critics alike for bringing new life to neglected and unknown classical composers. They have won two Latin Grammys for Best Chamber Music Recording and Best Classical Album in 2009 and 2016 respectively.
This quartet was founded in 1982, and they consist of violinists Saúl Bitrán, Arón Bitrán, Javier Montiel, and cellist Alvaro Bitrán. Since their founding, they have released more than 70 CDs, toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and performed with the likes of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Miami Symphony, and the Seattle Symphony. The Huffington Post describes their performances as “elegant, laidback miracles.”
For the first time, Cuarteto Latinoamericano plans to bring to life a crossover between world music and old and new tango with the help of bandoneon player Daniel Binelli and dancers Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barrionuevo. This quartet is used to more traditional performances. Despite this, they are not afraid to go out of their comfort zone.
“I think concert music needs to evolve to attract a new audience,” says violinist Saúl Bitrán.
The Hammer Theatre warmly welcomes Cuarteto Latinoamericano to experiment and explore new music genres. Audience members can expect a night of magic and wonder as Cuarteto Latinoamericano performs on stage.
