Since their founding in 2002, the group has rapidly distinguished itself as one of the preeminent ensembles of its generation. Critics and fans have lauded the Parker Quartet for their inspiring performances, luminous sound, and exceptional musicianship, enabling them to receive a Grammy Award in 2011. The Washington Post praises this musical group for having “…exceptional virtuosity [and] imaginative interpretation.”
The Parker Quartet has appeared at the world’s most important venues like Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York City. Furthermore, they have participated in international collaborations with acclaimed artists like violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg; members of the Silk Road Ensemble; Kikuei Ikeda of the Tokyo String Quartet; clarinetist and composer Jörg Widmann; and clarinetist Charles Neidich.
In addition to their many accomplishments, the Quartet has done some charitable work with violinist Kim Kashkashian for her project “Music for Food” by participating in concerts throughout the United States for the benefit of various food banks and shelters. Future collaborations with Kashkashian are also in the works for this season!
