Oaxacan food is one of Mexico’s most celebrated and complex cuisines. Mezcal Owner and Oaxacan native Adolfo Gomez moved to San José from Oaxaca, Mexico, 20 years ago. Gomez served as the Operations Manager at the Silicon Valley Capital Club restaurant for 10 years and also worked on opening Mezcal for five years. Longing for Oaxacan food and the tastes of home, Gomez’s vision of Mezcal Restaurant was realized in November 2008 and was voted one of the “2009 Best New Restaurants” by Metro Newspaper.

La Lune Sucrée is a bakery, located in Downtown San José and a neighbor to the Hammer. It’s a casual, airy spot with outdoor seating dispensing European café fare, pastries, and coffee. They work with local suppliers to source the freshest and most authentic ingredients that we are sure our community will enjoy.

K&J Bakery is a small family-owned Latino bakery. Ranging from sweet goods like conchas to custom-made cakes, coffees, etc.; as well as savory goods like tortas and tamales. The cozy restaurant has a very homely atmosphere and the owners themselves are as sweet as the treats they sell.

Tea Villa is a small-owned business first founded in 2016 in Milpitas. They later opened up a second shop in Downtown San José. Their vision is to reinvent boba for the future. Formerly located directly across from The Hammer Theatre, Circle-A Skateboards is one of the oldest continuously operating retail establishments in downtown San José. Circle – A has moved from the glass building, and is now at 380 South 1st Street, San Jose. The new hours are 11am – 6pm everyday. The cafe is temporarily closed as they plan and construct a new one.
