Beethoven’s 7th Symphony Benefit Concert

Event Navigation

Join Dr. Erica Buurman, incoming Director of the Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies at SJSU and the SJSU Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Fred Cohen, to welcome the newest acquisition to the Beethoven Center’s unique collection. A first edition score of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, signed by the composer and bearing a dedication to Antonie Brentano, in all likelihood Beethoven’s “Immortal Beloved.” Come see the score that Beethoven signed and the original letter Beethoven wrote “in order to recall myself to your friendly remembrance…All my best greetings to my beloved friend Toni.”

This free event starts at 2PM with a viewing of the signed, first edition score and continues at 2:30PM with an informative and engaging introduction to the score with Dr. Buurman, followed by a spirited performance of the Seventh Symphony.
