Vocalist Eugene Brancoveanu joins San José State University’s School of Music and Dance Symphony Orchestra this fall to present H.K. Gruber’s Frankenstein!!
Gruber’s “pan-demonium” for chansonnier and orchestra balances the comic and the macabre in a 20th-century musical language. Gruber draws from a collection of poems from H.C. Artmann’s Allerleirausch: Neue Schöne Kinderreime (Noises, Noises, All Around: Lovely New Children’s Rhymes) to create a chaotic, musical narrative.
Featured in this performance is vocalist Eugene Brancoveanu, whose robust voice and superior stagecraft have earned him critical acclaim in both North America and Europe. Following recent performances of San Francisco Opera’s The Little Prince, the San Francisco Chronicle lauds the superb cast as being “led by extravagantly gifted baritone Eugene Brancoveanu as the Pilot. With his unforced charisma, vocal clarity, and total heft, Brancoveanu managed the tricky feat of doing most of the show’s heavy lifting…”
Join Brancoveanu and the SJSU Symphony Orchestra for an exhilarating night of musical fun!
This Event is sponsored by an SJSU Artistic Excellence Programming Grant.
