San Jose Youth Symphony Chamber Orchestra Concert

Event Navigation

The Chamber Orchestra is one of the San Jose Youth Symphony’s premiere ensembles alongside the Philharmonic Orchestra. It is for musicians of high-school age at the advanced musical level. Rehearsals focus on the full orchestra as well as small chamber music groups coached by professional musicians. Our goal is to involve as many Chamber Orchestra musicians as possible in small chamber music groups in addition to the full orchestra. Master classes are presented during the season by leading musicians in the Bay Area.

For their second concert of the 2018-2019 season, the San Jose Youth Symphony’s Chamber Orchestra proudly presents the following repertoire:

  • Masques et bergamasques, Gabriel Fauré (1845—1924)
  • Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33, Camille Saint-Saëns (1835—1921)
    Hudson Fey, cello
  • Symphony No. 1 in D major, Charles Gounod (1818—1893)
  • Le prophète’s Coronation March, Giacomo Meyerbeer (1791—1864)

San Jose Youth Symphony is proudly sponsored by: The City of San José, The David and Lucille Packard Foundation, the San Jose Symphony Foundation, The Valley Foundation. Teifeld & Company, the Rotary Club of San Jose, SVCreates, The Music Place, The Starving Musician, Kamimoto String Instruments, the California Center for Implant Dentistry, Cynthia Cheung, the Steinway Society of the Bay Area, and the Thomas Metzler Violin Shop.
